  • Your Library’s History

Check back noteThe Millington Arbela District Library has been serving the citizens of Arbela and Millington Townships in Michigan since 1938. During that seventy-year period the library has always attempted to meet its patron’s needs.

The library currently offers reference services, books on tape, videos, magazines, public access computers and Internet access as well as tens of thousands of books and other services. Come see for yourself.

    Previous Library Locations

Millington Township Library signFounded as the Millington Township Library, the library has been located in several buildings around the community. One of those is now the home of the Millington-Arbela Historical Society at 8534 State Street in downtown Millington.

The library moved into its present site in 1970, when a millage provided the financing for a new building that was constructed at 8530 Depot Street in the Village of Millington. The library’s increased usage and expanded services necessitated an addition to the building in 1991.

If you are visiting the library for the first time; it is located one block east of M-15, on Depot Street, between Center and Main Streets. MAP

Public Access to the Internet Provided

Old Gates grant computersIn 2000 the Millington Arbela District Library received a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant which provided the library with four public access computer workstations and software, which are all connected to the Internet. However, the Millington Library offers more than just the Internet. We have Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Children’s Educational software, Mapping software and more.

Installation of new computersA second Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant replaced the original, aging, public access computers in 2006.
